UNIT 1: Deepening Into the Core Concepts of Vagal Toning to Cultivate Self-Awareness of Your Nervous System
Throughout the first three modules, Arielle Schwartz will guide you to review the fundamental principles of vagal toning, building upon the foundation laid in the introductory course.
You’ll focus on recognizing the subtle nuances in the nervous system that distinguish between safety and threat.
You’ll explore advanced tools that cultivate self-awareness of your nervous system states, setting the stage for profound transformation. Returning to vagal toning practices, you’ll engage in extended sessions to enhance our ability to regulate the mind and body. You’ll be able to refine these practices to best support your individual wellbeing. Lastly, in Module 3, we’ll dive into advanced breathing techniques aimed at expanding our capacity for resilience and joy.
Module 1: Recognizing Psychological Safety & Threat
- Revisit self-awareness practices to enhance nervous system awareness
- Learn advanced tools, such as the neuroception of psychological safety scale (NPSS) and the body perception questionnaire (BPQ) to identify safety/threat cues in your body
- Return to regulating vagal toning practices, including supine breath and body awareness
- Experience communal practice in a safe, co-regulating environment
Module 2: Personalized Vagal Toning Strategies
- Revisit calming techniques, and learn new strategies
- Create your own optimal daily vagal toning routine
- Spend time in longer attunement practices
- Connect to your spiritual heart through self-care
Module 3: Advanced Conscious Breathing
- Revisit basic techniques, and add to your breathwork toolbox
- Practice energizing, balancing, and calming breathwork
- Learn techniques, including breath of joy and alternate nostril pranayama
- Experience former group connect for regulation
UNIT 2: Understanding the Trauma-Stress-Health Connection to Facilitate Embodiment & Healing
Unresolved trauma can lead to inflammation, gut issues, and autoimmune conditions — but new healthy patterns can form through mind-body practices.
Module 4 explores neuroplasticity and shifting from stress-induced patterns. Module 5 covers the science linking trauma and health issues like inflammation. Module 6 provides embodiment tools to discharge stuck stress energy and access innate healing potential.
Module 4: Neuroplasticity & Rewiring Your Nervous System
- Explore neuroplasticity science and how trauma changes the brain
- Understand left/right brain imbalance and up/down disconnection
- Shift out of survival with vagal toning
- Experience neural integration during communal reflex integration
Module 5: The Relationship Between Trauma, Stress & Health
- Learn how trauma links to inflammation and health issues
- Understand fascia health and myofascial release

Module 6: Somatic Tools for Embodiment & Healing
- Work with tension patterns somatically

In Module 7, you’ll explore trauma-related dissociation and tools like pendulation between nervous system states. Module 8 covers integrating fragmented self-parts through internal family systems work. Module 9 examines relational trauma and resolving inner conflicts. You’ll gain skills to safely navigate from isolation to connection.
Module 7: Understanding & Healing Dissociation
- Recognize adaptive survival defenses
- Use tools such as pendulation and cognitive flexibility
- Practice embodiment to integrate polarized states
- Move from fragmentation toward integration
Module 8: Integrating All Parts of Yourself
- Identify inner conflicts and self-sabotage

Module 9: From Inner Conflict to Connection
- Explore relational trauma push/pull dynamics

The final modules focus on reconnecting to your spirit through vagal toning. Module 10 explores links between vagal tone, chakras, and endocrine function. Module 11 uses yoga to uncover your true essence and passion. Module 12 concludes with practices seeing your vagus nerve as a map to freedom and embodiment.

Arielle Schwartz, PhD, CCTP-II, E-RYT, is a licensed clinical psychologist, certified complex trauma professional, and Kripalu yoga teacher with a private practice in Boulder, Colorado.
