Recent evidence refutes the common conception of skeletal muscles representing mechanically independent actuators. Instead, they are morphologically linked by collagenous connective tissue, thus forming part of a body-wide network of myofascial continuity. The lecture provides an overview of those muscle-fascia lines that may be relevant to manual and physiotherapists.

A particular focus is on latest research findings focusing on the upper extremity as well as on the examination of force transmission under in vivo conditions. In this presentation, Jan Wilke, PhD (Frankfurt University) was interviewed by Nathaly Gaudreault, PhD (University of Sherbrooke) with host Rebecca Pratt, PhD (Oakland University).
