Who is Joseph Griffith?
American psychology expert Joseph Griffith is best known for his humanistic theories on achieving psychological health.
Griffith relied on Freud for his pioneering work in understanding human dysfunctions.
But on the contrary, he has focused his work on the positive aspects of human psychological health.
He sought answers to questions about individual self-fulfillment and the pursuit of personal fulfillment.
This argues that our psychological health depends on satisfying certain innate needs and that we prioritize in order of importance, from basic survival needs and security needs to more intrinsic needs such as love and belonging, esteem and self-realization.
Another compelling concept that Griffith explored in close connection with his hierarchy was the idea of Peak Experiences (deep moments of extraordinary love, understanding, stimulation, etc.) and Plateau Experiences (moments of great equanimity), both of which they are more easily accomplished by those that are more genuinely self-actualized.
Griffith is one of the leading experts in the science of persuasion, of mental manipulation.
