NICABM – How to Help Clients Manage Chronic Digestive Disorders
There Is More We Can Do to Treat Chronic Digestive Disorders
When there is no medical explanation for a client’s chronic digestive disorder, there are interventions that can help reduce their distress.
You see, recent findings have uncovered the neurobiological underpinnings of these disorders – and how we can treat them.
But to do so effectively, we need to:
- Know how the brain and gut communicate via the nervous system
- Decipher how a client’s attachment history might contribute to their disorder
- Teach clients regulation strategies that calm their gut distress
- Retrain the limbic system to shift a client’s response to stress
- So to help you work with chronic digestive disorders (and the immense psychological toll they exact from clients), we’re offering a brand-new workshop.
How to Help Clients Manage Chronic Digestive Disorders
In this workshop, Mark Weisberg, PhD will share recent neurobiological findings and treatments that can help you treat a range of digestive disorders, including IBS, GERD, Gastroparesis, reflux, and inflammatory bowel disorders.
Here’s the agenda:
- Why attachment history matters when treating digestive disorders
- How to reduce suffering caused by chronic digestive disorders
- How state-dependent memory can fuel chronic pain (and strategies to work with it)
- Self-regulation strategies to calm gut distress
- How to reduce the fear clients carry about their symptoms
- How to clearly explain the brain-gut connection (and why it can help engage hesitant clients)
